Realizing all the responsibility for ecological consequences of the industrial activities, OJSC TANECO pays much attention to multi-level system of continuous industrial ecological monitoring.

The purpose of this system is the real-time, which also includes automated, obtaining and timely submittal of information of state of environment at OJSC TANECO facilities and within the areas of their influence to the management, environment-oriented departments.

Monitoring of the environment quality during the construction period

In the period of construction and during the accreditation of the Complex laboratory, the ecological control was performed according to the contract by the accredited laboratories of Center of hygiene and epidemiology in RT in Nizhnekamsk region and in Nizhnekamsk, of Zakamsky territorial administration of Ministry of Ecology and natural resourses, of JSC Tatneft.

Beginning from 2008, TANECO monitors the condition of atmospheric air at the boundary of the unified sanitary-protection zone of Nizhnekamsky industrial hub, in the three control points (population places Alan, Ishteriakovo, Klyatle). Yearly the selection and analysis was performed of one hundred and fifty air samples concerning the content of the basic contaminants: CH2O – formaldehyde, NO2 – nitrogen oxide, H2S – hydrogen sulfide, SO2 – sulfur dioxide, suspended solids, CO – carbon oxide, C1-C10 – hydrocarbons, C6H6 – benzene, C6H5-CH3 – toluene, C6H4(CH3)2 – xylenes.

Along the perimeter of OJSC TANECO Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex to be constructed, the network of observation wells was made for monitoring of status of underground waters within the the Complex influence, consisting of eight sampling points. The monitoring of the surface waters is performed of the rivers Kama, Zai, Alanka, Tunguch, Martyshka. Analysis of the waters is performed concerning thirty two characteristics.

Ecological monitoring in OJSC TANECO during the period of operation

During the operation, the monitoring of Complex industrial activities influence to the environment is performed by the Complex’s Laboratory of industrial ecological monitoring, working together with the Company’s environmental protection department. The equipment of the Laboratory is one of the best in Tatarstan. Within the laboratory there is a movable post of ecological monitoring, which allows to get the real-time and true information of environment quality.

The main directions of OJSC TANECO ecological monitoring during the operation are the following:

1. Monitoring of wastes quality into the atmosphere:

· automatic monitoring at 8 sources of off gases, summarily generating 80% of contaminants;

· periodic monitoring (4 times per day at the stationary post and up to 50 samples of 8 contaminants per year by the movable laboratory) at the boundary of the unified sanitary-protection zone of Nizhnekamsky industrial hub near the villages Klyatle, Alan, Ishteriakovo with further evaluation of the wastes influence safety level to the population;

· automatic quality monitoring of atmospheric air in the village Klyatle, located at the boundary of the unified sanitary-protection zone of Nizhnekamsky industrial hub, by means of the stationary post.

2. Monitoring of physical factors (noise):

· quarterly sampling of maximal and equivalent noise levels at the stationary post at the boundary of unified sanitary-protection zone near the village Klyatle;

· one-time sampling of the maximal and the equivalent noise levels at the boundary of unified sanitary-protection zone near the villages Ishteriakovo and Alan.

3. Monitoring of quality of the effluents concerning 24 characteristics:

· in the places of discharge of the industrial effluents from the drainage system units;

· in the point of discharge of the treated effluents into the containment pond;

· in the point of discharge of the treated effluents into the Kama river.

4. Monitoring of quality of the surface waters concerning 31 characteristics during the main phases of the water regime if the drain sewage system is available in the nearest brooks, in the rivers Strelochniy Log, Avlashka, Tunguch , Alanka, Kama.

5. Monitoring of state of underground waters concerning 38 characteristics, including high-density metals, COD, BOD, ðÍ, summary oil products. In case of emergency, monitoring of underground waters will be additionally carried out concerning sanitary indicator microorganisms, permanganate value, nitrogen of ammonium, odor and turbidity.

6. Monitoring of contamination nearby places of storage and landfill (burial of wastes) concerning composition of soils, filtrate, physicochemical and bacteriological composition of surface, underground waters by means of observation wells, content of contaminants in the atmospheric air, as well as the technical parameters.

To print
